THE ‘ONE MORE MINUTE’ THEORY ✨
I came across something recently that stopped me in my tracks.
Not because it was complicated.
But because it felt like someone had reached into my heart and put words to something I’d never quite been able to explain.
It’s called the “One More Minute” theory.
And it’s not about having more time.
It’s about recognising that this moment…
This exact moment…
Will never exist again.
The versions of your loved ones…
Will not stay the same.
The version of you reading this right now is only temporary.
The woman you are today.
With everything you’re carrying.
Everything you’re learning.
Everything you’re healing from.
Everything you’re becoming.
She will never exist in this exact form again.
And neither will the people you love.
Your children’s voices.
Their laughter.
The things they say without thinking.
The way they still reach for you.
The way they still need you.
This version of them is passing through time.
Your partner’s smile.
The familiar stories you’ve heard a hundred times before.
The little habits that sometimes make you laugh and sometimes drive you mad.
One day, even those things will be different.
Your parents.
Your friends.
The people who make up your world.
Every single one of them is changing, just as you are.
And I think that’s why this hit me so hard.
Because if someone offered you just one more minute with this version of the people you love…
You wouldn’t spend it distracted.
You wouldn’t rush through it.
You wouldn’t be thinking about tomorrow’s to-do list.
You’d listen.
You’d notice.
You’d memorise the moment.
You’d be fully there.
And yet how often do we assume there will always be another chance?
Especially in midlife.
Especially in menopause.
We’re often so busy worrying about what’s next that we miss what’s here.
The next appointment.
The next goal.
The next chapter.
The next version of ourselves.
But what if this is the chapter you’ll one day look back on?
What if the woman you become five years from now wishes she had paid a little more attention to this moment?
To this body.
To this life.
To these people.
To herself.
The One More Minute theory isn’t about fear.
It’s about appreciation.
It’s about understanding that life isn’t happening somewhere in the future.
It’s happening now.
In the ordinary moments.
The quiet conversations.
The family dinners.
The morning coffee.
The sunset.
The hugs.
The laughter.
The people sitting right in front of you.
So today I’m reminding myself to slow down.
To notice.
To be present.
To stop treating moments as if they’re endless.
Because this minute only happens once.
And maybe that’s exactly what makes it so beautiful. 💚🧡
